I had this one on tap at the Orland Park Rock Bottom on 2/6/2009. This beer is brewed annually for Valentine's Day.
A= This ale poured a very slightly hazy dark copper/red color with a 1/2" white head. The head eventually dropped to zero and left behind some serious sheet lace.
S= Not a very aromatic beer, but I did find a faint malt backbone covered by a lot of citrusy hops. Amarillo hops were used to dry hop this beer.
T= This was a big hoppy American red for sure. Some caramel maltiness present, but the hops took center stage with a huge "west coast style" citrusy zing. Finish was clean, and a bit dry. Not a lot of alcohol presence.
MF= Medium bodied and crisp. High side of medium carbonation (which I prefer, others don't).
D= A fine example of an American imperial red ale. Worth a try for sure!
