Reviewed from notes.

Pours a hazy light yellow color with a white head and a tiny bit of lacing as it moves down the glass. Nose brings some banana and light citrus as well as a tiny bit of clove spice. Taste is really quite light with a bit of wheat and banana. Light feel with good carbonation levels. Drinks quite well as there is nothing offensive and it goes down smoothly.

Enjoyed on tap at the Scottsdale location, Dessert Ridge. Rumours of its retirement are certainly premature, this is available throughout Arizona. Unfiltered and looks it. Good bannana aroma, also lacey. Carbonation is right there. Above average mouthfeel, a bit of sour wheat, still good.

I had this in pint form at Rock Bottom in King of Prussia, Pa.
Appearance: Cloudy orange body with a bright white head sitting on top. The head wasn't very large, but the retention was decent, leaving thin but abbundant lacing.
Smell: Very strong yeast smell, banana sents, citrus ideas.
Taste: Banana, apple, many citrus fruits, again lots of yeast.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth, uncharastically so.
Drinkabiity: There was a bit to much going on for me, but I would put this at average.
Don't drink and review.

Cloudy, light yellow straw color, pillow-y, frothy white head. The smell is very fresh and zesty, of lemon peel and sweet wheat malt. There is an apparent wheat and bread/yeast character to the flavor but ruled by citrus-like zest of lemon and a little orange, some bubble gum. It is very grassy and earth-like in flavor as well. The mouth feel is OK, but not too tangy or spicy, a bit sparkling. All in all, a pretty solid summer offering, quite drinkable, but definitely not a standout.

Tasted On-Tap 09/14/05 at the Minneapolis, MN location.

Cloudy golden color with a white head, good carbonation, and good lace. Nice bubblegum yeasty aroma and flavors; possibly more bubblegum character than any other hefeweizen's I've ever had. Light-medium bodied with a nice fruity yeasty finish.

Overall good but there are tastier selections to move on to.

I've had this on tap before, but review for the first time with a growler.

Hazed p[ale yellow coloration, small, diminishing head.

Aroma leaps out, big banana, but I've yet to bring it up to the nose...
citrus foremost, orange, lemon, then banana, a meringue merengue, smooth and creamy, little spice or hops.

Very pleasant, if placid, on the tongue. Medium-bodied, good flavor, but, a bit too blase', if I may. An easily drinkable weizen, sure to please many a palate among the Rock Bottom throngs. Anyone looking for more will find this rather run of the mill.

Flavor is consistent, though, if on the mundane side...carries though the pint, which is more than I can say about other weizens I've met. A passable brew for summertime.

This beer has a frothy white head that sits atop a beer that is fully hazy and a straw color. The aroma has notes of clove and a bit of banana, plus there are some spritzy wheat notes as well. The beer is soft and creamy up front with a bit of acidity that reminds me of lemons. There is also a bit of phenolic astringency in the finish. I definitely like the soft fruitiness that is found here as well as the spicy character from the wheat in the finish. This is a pretty good example of a German Hefeweizen.

This is a bit better than average hefe. It pours light yellow with a large head that is a bright white that diminishes rather quickly. It has a cloudy appearance but little suspended yeast. It is fairly fizzy.

It has a light citrus smell. I don't get any cloves out of it and really can smell malt.

A clean light taste mostly citrus and some malt. Hardly any hop flavor.

It has a slick fizzy shhortlived mouth.

This is a beer you could drink all day on a hot summers day or great for watchin B-ball on t.v.

On tap...Twin Cities Pub Crawl 2004...

Hazy as appropriate, lighter than some in color, a dirty lemon yellow appearance. Head is a minimal skim. Looping laces, punctuation marks. Not a great aroma, slight dishwater detergent, some residual yeastiness doesn't complimant this well. Adequate cottony mouthfeel, bubblegum esters with an end thats properly lemonish in quality but with light metallics and an overall soapiness that creeps in from the aroma. Lots of aftertaste. Meets style in some points, but its not a well-cooked example top my tongue.

Had a hazy wet-straw color and a small white head that quickly dwindled down to a thin ring. Lots of carbonation noted. The smell was an interesting blend of banana and clove, vanilla, and some lemon zest all swirled in with a bready malt aroma.
The taste was quite in keeping with the Bavarian style of a wheat beer, at least initially. It had good banana and clove flavors atop a yeasty malt backbone. Then the American influence came out as the taste shifted to a more traditional American wheat beer: a citrusy lemon flavor and some vanilla notes emerged. The feel was light, crisp, and refreshing. However, it was also over-carbonated which provided an annoying distraction as the carbonation sizzled the tongue.
Overall, this was an interesting melding of German and American styles on the wheat beer. El Hefe is very easy to drink and one of the better brews I had at Rock Bottom Brewery.

A hazy (but not cloudy) deep-amber/orange body is capped by a short head of bright white foam that quickly dissipates to just a thin collar and, sadly, leaves no lace. It's delicately phenolic nose (bubblegum, plastic, mild clove) and sweetish wheat-like malt only hint at the richness of a Bavarian-style hefeweizen; which is great for the uninitiated, but leaves the aficianado a bit underwhelmed. The body is light/medium with a fine, crisp carbonation that rouses the tastebuds as it crosses the palate. The flavor reveals a thin wheatish malt splashed with light plastic, smoke, and spice phenolics along with a bit of fruitiness. The bitterness is a bit higher than might be expected from a Bavarian example, and this beer leans more towards an American wheat. It finishes crisp and dry with some residual bubblegum. Refreshing!
