A- Two fingers of tan head over black (very dark amber if held up to a bright light) . Head sticks around and is left on the bottom of the glass, minimal lacing.
S- Deep roasted grains, a slight chocolate malt smell.
T- Smooth low level darkly roasted grains, almost burnt. Would be rather like a Guinness Draught except some fresh toasted malts show up as the flavor fades, and leave a nice oatmeal maltyness as the aftertaste. This characteristic makes this beer's flavor stand out.
Mouthfeel: Exceptionally smooth.
D- I found this to be very drinkable, with well hidden alcohol and inviting flavors. Hard to keep it slow...
Notes: The server originally told me that this was a smoked porter, but when it tasted more like an Irish stout I asked her about it and she found that the keg she had thought it had been coming from was empty and they had just tapped a new one called "Welsh Stout" which is a brewmaster's choice dark ale. I assume it is a limited availability beer.
