Stopped by RB this weekend for a few beers and food. First beer of the night was the California Stout. It was offered on both nitro and on cask, and I chose cask. Served in a regular pint glass. Dark brown color, with a caramel colored head. Smell was like very faint cocoa powder. Taste was extremely nice. Reminded me of a mouthful of chocolate cake and warm milk. Mouthfeel was nice due to the cask. It had a smoothness to it that I really enjoyed, and the perfect temp to really taste a stout. Drinkability was high for me, as it was tasty and mild. One of the better beers I have had from Rock Bottom in a while.

Served on-tap in a clear pint glass at Rock Bottom Brewery (Boston, MA).
A: Very dark brown with 1/2-finger head that disappears relatively quickly and leaves no lace.
S: Tobacco, leafy, floral meets toasted, dark malt with light metallic note
T: Very average with more hoppiness than most dry stouts but that's about it. Malt is lacking and leaves a cardboard flavor which thankfully is overtaken by somewhat dirty flavored tobacco hops
M: Thin and unremarkable with light-medium body like flat cola
D: A one-and-done brew. Not their best by any means although at least not a light lager.
