Dark black color with a huge dark tan head that left ample lacing down the footed glass. Huge, piney hop aroma followed by a nice mix of chocolate and roastiness. Flavor is all hops when it's cold, lots of pine and citrus up front, hop resins dominate, but it gets more chocolaty and roasty as it warms, with a nice bitter coffee-like finish. Silky, full bodied, perfect carbonation. I really liked this beer, but sometimes these hopped up RIS's just aren't my thing. I would rather them be more malt-centric than hop centric, but it was damn good nonetheless. Didn't realize how fast I was drinking it and the 10% did me in good. Excellent beer, but would be better if they dropped the IBUs from 85 to say, oh 60?
