Poured from tap at my sitting at the bar 9-14-2010. As the BAer that reviewed the beer first, the chalkboard said the exact same thing. Born 8/29/2010. Poured into my mugclub mug.
A: A medium to dark orange color with some hints of brown. Very cloudy with a creamy frothy head. Full glass lacing.
S: Citrus bomb with a huge cascade nose (no duh). A slight bready sweetness is picked up.
T: First taste is bready malt but then the big citrus orange, pinapple, grapefruit cascade hops come in. Very bitter and hoppy but still very light on body. The bready malt comes in but gets squashed at the end by the clean bitter finish. Very light, but very hoppy. Almost pale ale-ish. Very easy drinking and enjoyable but sort of one dimensional with the lack of malt body. You want hops? This is the beer.
M: Medium, maybe a bit thin actually. No alcohol but bitter on finish.
D: High, move on.
Overall another quality brew by Brian. He keeps spitting out quality beer. Nice job Brian, I enjoyed that one being a hophead and all.

Drank at the bar on 9-2. Reviewed from notes.
Chalkboard above bar noted a birthdate of 8-29-2010 and an ABV of 6.9%. Description states "An old school Cascade IPA."
This seasonal IPA pours a thin head with bubbly lacing. Color wise, it's orange and hazy, like an American wheat beer. It's a bit too citrusy and thin, but not bad.
Aroma smacks of sweet and fruity hops. It's non-abrasive (hop wise) with a bit of orange and pineapple dashed in for a Summery vibe. All in all, a light and appealing bouquet.
The first thing my tongue noticed was the lack of malt. The hop flavor is clean, subtle and only slightly dry. You can tell it's refreshing right as it hits the tongue. It's probably not a purists IPA (see: lack of hop flavor), especially with subtle hints of banana, which would be better off in a wheat beer. The doughy conclusion is tasty, if a bit overpowering.
If I was to make one complaint, this didn't seem to strive to be anything but a decent IPA. I'm always looking for innovation and originality, but the flavor and drinkability on display here were enough to shut me up.
