Deep, clear garnet around the edges when held to light. Typically dense, thick persistent tan nitro head. Light coffeeish roasted barley and mild chocolate malt in aroma. Almost bland aromawise. Light chocolate flavors dominate, with hop and smooth roasted barley bitterness leaving only a slight residual sweetness. Subdued fruitiness becomes apparent as the brew warms. Moderately bodied for style w/ a spot on creamy nitro mouthfeel that aids in quaffability. Finishes dry, w/ just a hint of roasted barley sharpness. Clean all around and very drinkable, though not outstanding. Devil's Back is a well crafted, straight forward dry stout.
