A: Typical American IPA appearance: deep golden, white head. Average retention and lacing - (dirty restaurant glass?).
S: Limited aroma... ? Grassy/floral. Spicy??? or is that alcohol?
T: Pineapple, grassy, floral, spicy, citrus-rind chalkiness. Bready/biscuity malt base. Bold bitterness. Lingering dry finish accented by hop flavors the further it goes. Well-balanced.
M: Medium bodied. Zesty carbonation until it warms a bit.
O: A nice west coast style IPA. Worth trying.

Appears a transparent light gold with a small white cap that quickly fades into a gentle head and collar. Scattered bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of spicy herbs, citrus, cut wood, pine sap, and orange candies.
Taste is of the aromas with an earthy wood like bitterness that seems to be the champion of the beer. Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of whatever hop variety I'm getting here. There are some nice notes of citrus but the malt quickly takes a back seat to the overwhelming bitter hop blast...not that it's a bad thing but it makes the beer cut out quickly in a dry fashion and leaves me wanting more malt with this level of carbonation.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, spritzy, dry, and bitter with notes of pine and grapefruit.

"A West Coast Style Big IPA" with a birthdate of 5/6.
Body is a clean, crisp golden color with an amber hew when held to the light. Carbonation is light, leaving behind little to no head or lacing. It's visually non-descript and a bit dull.
Aroma is spicy, bringing to mind the more savory hop aromas, rather than the citrusy ones. I'm also picking up a grassy floral smell that is fresh, if a bit overshadowed by the hop bite. Certainly more appealing than the look.
Taste is subtle for the style, but well balanced. A dry, green apple flavor is followed by a mild hop dryness and bite. This is all rounded out by a nice foresty freshness, provided by which ever hop varietal brought the grassy notes. It's not aggressive by any means, being more a nice, gentle taste of the aromatic hops.
Mouth opens smooth and slowly becomes more dry and bitter as it goes on. The transition is very gentle, allowing for an unaggressive juxtaposition of flavors.
Overall, this light IPA is a nice, easy drinker that displays the hop respectfully and only suffers from some minor flaws in the eye and nose. Worth a shot.
