Was at the Rock Bottom in Portland for the first time just as the brewer announced it was time to tap the new beer with free pints all around. Turns out it was a style that I kept seeing all around Portland ; the India Red Ale. This was a very good example of a hybrid style, the big hops of an IPA with the big malt back of the Red. Colour was a pretty red light brown with a big head. The beer was very balanced yet the hops shone through in the first sip. Only the Double Mountain IRA was better on my trip. I thought Rock Bottoms other beers were OK but this was actually very good
