On tap @ the King of Prussia Rock Bottom on 9/21/12. Served in an oversized mug.
Pours a deep clear ruby, with a finger of slightly off-white colored head. This maintains a thin foaminess, which leaves back sticky swathes of lace. The aroma smells floral and earthy with a ripe citrus presence. Sweet malt mixes in to add some tanginess to this, while light roasty accents work their way in off the edges. That ripe earth citrus really dominates this.
The taste has a firm green and earthy citric bite to it throughout, with a toffee sweetness coming in off the sides and a burnt roasted feel in the back that lingers in the finish along with some leftover dry bitter earthiness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a firm crispness to it from those hops but the overall package here is smooth and creamy. This drinks very nicely.
This was decent and pretty darn hoppy for an American Porter. I would have maybe like to have seen a little more sweetness and roast come out of the profiles but the body on this made up for it with a super smooth feel that kept this very drinkable.
