From the bottle:
"This bottle conditioned beer is a Belgian-Style Dark Strong Ale aged on raisins- it has a rich chocolate like flavor with a big dark fruit finish."
Mahogany colored body with a ring of dark khaki foam gracing the edge of the glass. Some solid lace is left behind.
Wonderful smell. Mild tartness, raisin and various dark fruits blended with chocolate.
Pretty solid sweetness, but not cloyingly so. Dark fruits such as blackberry, raisin, prune and fig. Black cherry with brown sugar syrup. The chocolate is lightly underneath all of the sweet and ripe fruits. Quite port like in flavor.
Very low carbonation. Could use more, but what is left is soft. The finish is sweet, yet dry. Some warm alcohol is felt.
Very nice brew here. Reminds me of a port wine. Will enjoy the rest of this one.
