12 oz. Bottle
Best By: MAY2118
Poured into a tulip a nice dark brown color, nice carbonation, with a small tan creamy head, which leaves minimal sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, chocolate/toffee, with some slight coffee, slight vanilla, roasty. The taste is malty, roasty, with some chocolate/toffee, slight coffee, vanilla. Medium body, ABV hidden nicely. Overall, a nice thirst quencher.

Poured from the bottle into a glass.
Brown liquid; light passes at the edges.
Small off-white head; nice lacing.
Roasted coffee & chocolate nose; inviting.
Medium thin mouthfeel.
Rich coffee flavor with honey on the back end. This is delicious. Pretty much a home run. I'll have another soon.

Bland sort of looks, nearly no head. Smell is pretty good, sweet and cocoa powder. Touch of roasted malts, nuttiness. Taste is a little flat, lacking depth. Upfront with semi-sweet chocolate and a fake-tasting honey flavor. Fades on a slight bitterness. Gritty feel.
Eh, mediocre. Smell is good, taste is lacking

Bottle acquired in a trade; dated APR 21 14 so depending on how it was treated the last 18 months it might be good or it might not. Poured into pint glass. Deep ruby-brown with a thin tan head. Initial impression is, of course, cocoa, but that's about it for complexity. Maybe some caramel, but very subdued - cocoa rules. Thin mouthfeel - a real minus in a porter. Light carbonation. Odd chemical aftertaste. (Barely) drinkable but not something I'd seek out.
