Familiar appearance of dark red and brown on this one, small 1/6" head, off white. An earthy, dirty, toffee and tobacco kind of peated aroma.

Taste goes Irish red on me without much in the way of hopping. Caramel and toffee all day, unsweetened. Doesn't offer anything more marzen like as opposed to an irish red.

A brown beer, better carbonation than most. Can't tell head color, beige, white, not enough to discern. Smells of alcohol and earth.

Taste, just can't get into the style, tastes like another passable red. Some smooth flow to the beer, but no ibus, no hops, but a rough dirt, earth and alcohol feel as if this was an English strong ale.

Cool artwork as usual though.

Presentation: 12 oz brown bottle with a blurb about the beer on the back label ... the "enjoy with the first four months of date" is cleary notched.

Appearance: Deep amber with reddish hues ... head dissappates into a thin whispy lace.

Smell: Malty yet mellow with hints of caramel, hops and alcohol.

Taste: Medium in body with a moderately light carbonation, hop bitterness is spot on with just a balancing quality to it. The malt profile is decent with hints of caramel and toasted malts ... the finish is pleasing with no surprises while a fading toasted malt flavour lingers on the palate.

Notes: A little one-demensional ... though still very drinkable. Not bad for an American brewed Octoberfest though nothing to write home about.
