July 7th, 2015 - Tommyknocker is an old friend in my beer autobiography. No trip to the mountains is complete now without a quick stop at their Idaho Springs location to get some suds. On this summer day I ended the day with the St. Browne, a mahogany colored ale with a shade of deep red pomegranate on the body, and a cinnamon and brown sugary smell. More Christmas here than evergreen summer days. The taste largely reflects the smell, with deep brown sugars and cinnamon offering a mildly spicy, mildly sweet brew on a medium bodied. Good, but not especially notable. Still, very much a beer to match a mountain venture day.
