after the outrageously popular blood orange ipa, they have created a new version to capitalize on some of this haze hype. it’s a pretty solid offering actually, i kind of always thought the original could use more hops, especially in a dry hopped context, and it seems to have gotten that here, which is awesome. hazy but not thick enough to look unappealing, with a nice white head on it and great retention. smells like the same blood orange as the original, sweeter rather than acidic, juicy and highly dosed, but this time there is a more robust hop profile right there with it, notes of grapefruit and lime to compliment, and as much as its pretty robust, i like it, maybe better than the original, it certainly drinks more like an ipa this way. carbonation is great, which I always look for now in these east coast hoppy ones, and it certainly adds a lot here. more drinkable than the original because it never gets sweet, or rather the fruity sweetness is balanced more by the hops, still with some bitterness at the end too. these guys have done a nice job making new flavors and trying to stay relevant in a really tough beer market, and i commend this effort to modernize one of their staples.
