Imperial Death Star Stout

If you're gonna have a big heavy imperial stout, you should be able to taste the barrel aging and the flavor of the beer and not just the booze. This is a good example of that - you actually get the stout up front and then the whiskey barrel flavoring on the back end without the whiskey dominating the whole thing. It's a pretty standard Russian imperial stout, and it's just over 10%, but it doesn't blow you away with the alcohol. Nicely balanced and heavy on the chocolate. Well done from a brewery that doesn't normally attempt beers like this.
