600ml on-draught @ the brewpub for 80000 VND (ouch).
8 EBC. 22 BU. 4.80% ABV.
Appearance isn't turbid, oddly. Transparent pale copper. Not the traditional vibrant yellow.
Gorgeous banana notes and spicy Belgian yeast. Soft wheat provides the malt backbone.
And soft it is - quite refreshingly so. I murdered the 600ml pour with ease; this is highly drinkable albeit shallow. Not the simplest witbier I've had, but it's not up there with the best traditional Belgians, Mikkeller's expressions, or select U.S. examples of the style in terms of intricacy.
Its relatively high price will repel those accustomed to local standards of affordability, but it's easily one of the better beers in Vietnam - at least in terms of those brewed outside Ho Chi Minh City.

I'll begin this review with this note: The brewery calls this beer a Witbier (as it is brewed in the Belgian style with belgian yeast, coriander and orange) and claims it has a slightly cloudy appearance. However, when I ordered it on-tap, I didn't notice any cloudiness at all - it appeared to me more like a Kristalweizen than anything else. Nevertheless, I gave the brewer the benefit of the doubt and called it a Witbier for the purpose of this site. On to the real review. . .
So, again, this beer poured a crystal clear pale yellow with not much in the way of head (perhaps because it wasn't poured into a proper wheat beer glass - but hey, it's Vietnam. . .). The aromas rising from it's minimal head were, however, quite impressive with a good amount of orange, coriander and yeast notes coming through. Flavours of citrus and banana rush over your palate with a crisp clean finish that soothes your throat on a hot muggy day. Mouthfeel, was average, not quite as smooth as many other Wits given its relative lack of visible yeast. However, it's clean, crisp nature makes it a good refresher for such a hot climate. As for drinkability, there's not much to complain about at all: it goes down real easy and made for a great session ale on the beach.
Overall, a well-made beer that is a welcome bit of variety in the land of adjunct lagers!!!
