What a surprise – a sweet porter! Tastes a bit like a sweet brown ale but dressed in basic black. The sweetness in both taste and smell alludes to brown sugar with perhaps a flourish of treacle. Just as hops are used to offset the sweetness of residual malts, ‘Pooya similarly uses roastiness to balance the taste. A distinctive porter, nicely done, and a vast improvement upon the Dark Horse Porter formerly brewed by Oregon Trader.
