If I heard correctly, this is among the first of Calapooias original beers as opposed to a revisited Oregon Trader recipe. And its a winner. Flood Stage is exactly what I want from a red ale. Its the kind of beer that can easily be identified upon first sip for the distinct malts used to bring out the red. Clean yeasts and modest hopping let those red malts carry the day, making this more than just another beer with a color. And the aroma steps right in synch.
Flood Stage tastes like a fruit bowl brimming with cherry and plum. And it sports a fine crop of suds to boot. Offered as a spring seasonal.
