On draught at the brewery, Simcoe Springs IPA is hazy burnt gold with white skin leaving light, foamy lace.

Smell is pungent hops, woody and resinous.

Taste is modestly malty, some cracker, big herbal, resin hops, firm bitterness.

Mouthfeel is a bit chewy, medium bodied.

Drinkability is solid. A bit lighter and more pungent than their house IPA. still heavy on the wood, stem, earth, bitterness. Nice punch of alcohol.

Calapooia offers this IPA as a summer seasonal. The only problem I have with that is that it's so much better than their regular IPA, it really should be promoted to full time status.

Simcoe enjoys an ideal combination of strong, hop-driven flavor on a light, airy body. Sluggish bubbles rise to a whipped, soapy head. The aroma is of the skunk cannabis variety in the best sense of the word "skunk." The floral, grassy flavor leads to a clean, abrupt finish, while the body steals across the tongue effortlessly and implacable lace forms eagerly on the glass.

A standout example of bold flavors, clean lines, and uncommon ease of drinkability. Would make for an excellent cask candidate. Listed at 7.0% ABV.

Pours a hazy clear orange color, with a bright white head that settles fairly quickly. Nice lacing. Heavy citrus pink grapefruit aroma. Very nice.Taste isn't quite so in your face like i predicted from the aroma. Citrus notes are prevalent, some malty sweetness, but it's an ipa. I'd be surprised to taste much of anything other than hops. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth, not as sticky as i'd expect. Drinkability is good. It's hoppier than your average IPA, but not quite up into DIPA territory. I'm looking forward to trying more beers from this local brewery once i move to albany next month.
