Look: Black in the glass and mahogany on the pour which yields a substantial tan head that retains well, eventually settling to a pillow and leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Light roast, earthy notes, some chocolate, toasted bread crust, and light roasted tree nuts
Taste: Roast, bread, and toast hit hard up front and soon followed by some nice chocolate and nuttiness that all begin to mingle well. Earthiness cuts into the fold here and there throughout and closes with more roast, chocolate, and bready malt
Mouthfeel: Full but light, very clean, medium-high carbonation, and a clean and crisp finish
Overall: I’m digging it. I’m a full-blown sucker for Schwarzbiers and fall hard and quick for them so seeing that these folks had made one, I was all-in to try it and support their efforts and glad I did as this is tasty. A well-made example of a Schwarz that checks all the style boxes for me and is a fun and easy beer to drink. Recommended
