A-Ruby tinted dark brown with a medium tan head that reduces to a thin ring and leaves spotty lace.

S-Cereal grains and malted milk balls. A nice combination that is then tempered with a dry oak character.

T-Dry oak and bitter chocolate and sweet vanilla. Roasted/toasted grains all combine into a fairly rich and flavourful brew.

M-Medium body with nice lingering flavours. Dark chocolate bitterness being the most prevalent.

D-Very nice, an improvement over the base brew Cygnus X-1. The dry oak element is very welcomed.

The Trees is a hazelnut-infused version of their Cygnus X-1 porter, brewed in appreciation of their (and my) favorite band, Rush! I believe it has also been oak aged, but I could not find any info on their official web site.

A - Poured a very carbonated chestnut-colored dark brown body with over a finger of beige head that retained well and left some patchy lacing around the glass.

S - Malt character is very cereal-esque and reminiscent of a bowl of dry Cheerios. Aside from the malty notes, The Trees boasts a woody, grainy character with an earthy hop bitterness.

T - Lots of Cheerios and roasted malts with hints of vanilla and chocolate. However, I can't get past the grainy cereal malt flavor. It tastes like a bowl of dry Cheerios. Dry woody notes persisit throughout the finish.

M - Medium yet robust body with a grainy texture and lots of prickly carbonation. Finish is quite dry with a bit of nutty astringency on the palate as well as plenty of earthy bitterness.

D - I enjoyed this a bit more than the standard Cygnus X-1... and I'm quite convinced I'm right!
