Tasted by a half-pint at the Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield. Served by a handpump w/ a sparkler.
A: nearly black, coming with a tan-hued creamy head with very good retention.
S: dense and rich, full of sour-sweet ripe stone-fruits, toffee, treacle, dark plum jam, nuttiness, roastiness... all blended well together to render a jammy and bitter-sweet aroma.
T: chewy roast-nuttiness and coffee cut through the palate, ensued by lots of toasted malts, more roast-nut flavour, Chinese black prunes... turning very dry and bitter in the aftertaste with even more nuts to offer~~
M&D: soothing and creamy, with just the right amount of light fizziness to make this stout a lively one, but the body remains medium-full. This is a very good "bitter stout"; decent in complexity and boasts lots of nuttiness and hop bitterness to hook one's palate!
