Presentation: On tap.
Appearance: Brick red/amber with burnt orange hues with a wispy patchy off white lace.
Smell: A soft toasted, bready, nutty and biscuity malt aroma mingle with touches of fruity esters and faded orange peel.
Taste: Very crisp and one sided when served cold, when warmed it warmed up a bit rich chewy toasted malts were dominate with an even nuttiness through the middle. Hop flavour and bitterness meet up with a slight orange peel and maple syrup taste to help round out the malt. A good amount of alcohol makes a presence as it warms the body.
Notes: A unique twist of the Old Ale style, a liberal amount of almonds were added to the mash and the conditioning tank. Orange peel and maple syrup were added to the boil also. If you order a pint make sure you let it warm up a bit, being served too cold did not do it justice. A fine ale to be had in Boston on a chilly fall night.
