A beer-drinkers beer, our hearty Oktoberfest packs a punch. Available from early September through Christmas, we use a blend of Pilsner and Munich malts for darker color and a maltier taste. The alcohol content is higher than our other beers and the increased malt is balanced with a bit more bitterness.

A: Pours a clear dark amber color with a small head and bits of lacing.

S: Aroma of roasted malt, some caramel sweetness, bit of spice and grain.

T: Flavor of toasted malt, grain, hint of spice with a bitterness through to a fairly clean finish.

F: Light body. crisp with decent carbonation. Has bit of a lingering stickiness.

O: Decent beer, although I was expecting something with a bit more character.

I was in Hermann for Oktoberfest and had this beer on tap from the trailer in the beer garden. It was a deep brown color and had a thin head. There was some nice lacing from it though. The aroma was malty, but a fairly light maltiness.

The body was light, and the mouthfeel was a bit sharp. The flavor was slightly malty up front, but then there was a very, very unpleasant metallic flavor. As I drank it, I picked up on some toasty malt flavors, but the metallic flavors were just too pronounced and unbearable.

I wouldn't recommend drinking this beer, let along pairing it with a food. I noticed some nice malty and toasty flavors hidden behind the metallic flavors, but it became almost undrinkable after a few sips. I'm not sure what was wrong with this beer, but my friend and I both noticed the terrible metallic flavor. Perhaps they prepared for the huge Oktoberfest crowd and this beer had been sitting around in a keg for quite some time.

A - Poured out a dark, dark brown color with a one-finger, egg shell white head of foam. Average head retention with very little lacing.

S - Fairly typical marzen aroma - malty with an earthy/grassy hop presence.

T - Nice sweet caramel malt with a bready flavor. It has a mild grassy hop bite.

M - Good lager crispness. A nice, smooth finish for a light bodied beer.

D - This is an easy drinking oktoberfest. Tin Mill has done a nice job hitting this style.

I have had this both on tap and in the bottle. On tap is of course better but the only place I know that they serve it on tap is at the brewery. It has a bronze colored body with a thick and rocky head. There is a lot of head and lace. Lots of carbonation to the body. The aroma is very sweet and malt like with a bitter finish. It has a little bit more of a roasted taste for a Marzen. I like that though. There does seem to be a variation to the style but that is OK. There is a good balanced blend of hops and malt. It starts off mild but then gets you in the aftertaste.

Once again a thin and diluted example of the style. Little in terms of aroma, with barely detectable toasted malts. Not much in terms of flavor, or mouthfeel, but quite clean overall. Despite the dilution it would be quite drinkable on a warm fall afternoon were it not for the rather inflated price at nine dollars a sixer.

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark amber body with a thin, wispy, white head.

Smell: Aroma of toasted malts with some light, meager hop hints.

Taste: Toasted malts with a touch of fresh grain. Lightly sweet throughout. Spicy hops, though with only a mild hop bitterness present. Finishes dry and crisp with a lasting hint of toasty maltiness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Just a tad light for me in terms of both malts and hops, though it's still a fairly drinkable, fairly pleasant Oktoberfest from Tin Mill.

Pours a beautiful clear light copper color with a very small quickly dissipating head. Smells only of sweet German malts with a light hop aroma. First sip is light, clean and refreshing like a good Marzen should be. Great malty goodness here. Very drinkable and on the money for the style. Tin Mill gets it right style after style.
