Bottle: Poured a clear light yellow color ale with a large pale white head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light Bretty notes with some light tart notes with funky ester. Taste is also dominated by Bretty notes with some light tart notes with a light wine finish. Body is light with excellent carbonation. Very enjoyable with good complexity while retaining some drinkability.

Thanks to Papat444 for this bottle. Bottled July 2013.

The beer is clear golden in colour, and a careful pour still results in a very large white head.

Smell is very good. Light fruits, oak and slightly funky yeast combine in roughly equal amounts. Fruits seem to include grape and some tropical notes. The red wine comes through.

Taste is also very nice. The red wine barrel has a tremendous impact, resulting in a big berry flavour and a significant astringency. Underneath Oak is strong as well. A rich maltiness underneath, bready and a bit sweet. Belgian yeast is evident, providing some more fruit. Finish is fairly dry, but the malt does provide some sweetness.

Full bodied, moderate carbonation. Astringent.

Overall, quite enjoyable. I wouldn't call it a wild ale, as if there are any wild yeasts in here (not sure there are), they don't seem to play a very prominent role. Barrel-aged tripel seems more apt - heavy on the barrel.

Bottle from hoppypocket in CanBIF Fall 2013.

A - Hazy golden pour with strong carbonation. Really fluffy three finger white head. Grety filmy rings of lace anf a full finger of retention.

S - Grape, lot's of lemon, grainy, Bretty.

T - Dusty lemons, Brett, not tart but definitely Bretty and barnyardy.

M - Strong carbonation, spoiled fruit/Bretty finish, medium creamy body.

O/D - You'd never know this was so strong. Tasty and interesting. A very straightforward Bretty, strong beer. Nice stuff out of this small brewpub.

I poured my 330 ml bottle into a chalice. Lots of head. The beer was quite foamy. I had to let it settle down a little in order to finish pouring it. The color was orange with lots of bubbles. It wasn't transparent, but that's probably because of all the bubbles. I could smell something fruity, but I couldn't identify it. I picked up strong citrus flavors when I tasted it: orange mainly. No grapefruit thankfully. The bottle said the beer was aged in oak barrels, and I note some other reviews mentioned oak and tannins. I picked up none of that. I noticed no alcohol burn. It was a pretty easy to drink beer. I liked the citrus flavor, but I wanted more to go with it, which the oak aging should have provided.

330ml tear drop stubby poured into tulip 30/4/13 cheers Rutager for the want

A hazy orange liquid with lots of bubbles moving tiny particles around, massive three fingers of bone white foam has great retention slowly falling to a thick film leaving a single thick ring followed by random patches

S mild funk with some pear, apple, grape, candied pineapple, and some berries work well with some oak and vinous notes, smells pretty good

T more wine barrel and still some citric hops hiding in there, or maybe its just citrus, earthy with less fruity notes then the nose, it defers from the nose but the quality is still solid

M a little pucker and tannin, a little airy carbonation and a medium body, slightly sweet and sour with some cereal on the finish

O I rather liked this one, something different form an obscure source as I'd never heard of these guys until this one randomly popped up on the Canadian Top 100 (RIP)

makes me wonder what other little gems are hiding around Canada, well worth looking for and I hope its not really retired because I'd like to drink it again

Funky little short and squat bottle with a long neck. Thanks Hoppypocket!

Appearance. Pours a hazy, deep yellow-gold with 1.5 fingers of white head.

Smell. Funky brett, pears and apples, maybe a little pineapple, and a little fruity Belgian yeast.

Taste. Brett, apples and pineapple, nice lowish level of sourness, a bit of light grains and belgian yeast. Very crisp and refreshing with no alcohol.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body, medium-strong carbonation.

Overall. Enjoyed this one! Nice and light tasting with some great fruit and a little nice sourness and brett. From Canada too! :-)

Full mouthfeel and slightly acidic. Very intense, and not getting the brett, too much wood. Dark bodied and lacey. Aroma is acidic. white vinegar, balsalm vinegar, boozy, lots of old port wine.Good but not great, needs balance. Unique. Liam's bottle.

Bottle from ZorPrime, 330ml into a tulip. May 2012 bottling.

Clear gold with a big white head. Decent lace, and a thick layer of retention. Nose of oak barrle, a bit of funk, some vinous and acidic qualities, all hiding a very subtle tripel underneat. Taste has some red wine acidity, oak barrels, gentle vanilla and some red fruits/berries. A bit tannic with some Flanders Red ale character. Full feel, some acetic in the finish. Not much alcohol to be found. An interesting choice for barrelling a tripel, this worked out fairly nicely.

Thanks to hoppypocket for this one.

Poured from a 330ml. bottle, bottled May 2012.

Appearance: A very light gold, clear body with thick puffy foam that leaves spotted lacing and good retention.

Smell: Sweet a bit, banana, bit of funk though not really tart, mix of peach and melon and slices of fruit.

Taste: White grapes, musty, mixed with classic tripel flavors (pears and spices) with some dry crackers in the background.

Mouthfeel: Dry, sucks the saliva out almost and starts strong but finishes a bit weak.

Overall: I wouldn't really classify this as a wild ale personally though it's not a typical tripel. Good but for the price, i expected more.

Bottle from papat444. I'd never heard of this beer or brewery to be honest. Shared with Jason, and served in a Hill Farmstead tulip.

A - White foam settles to a thin cap and splotchy lace. Hazy blonde body.

S - Fruity brett with tropical flavors, oak, mildly smokey red wine notes, red fruit and caramel malts.

T - Taste has the same collection of flavors, but with more of the oak and malt flavors. Alcohol is well-hidden, and there's some mild acidity but more from the wine barrel than from souring bacteria - the wild character is more brett clausenii tropical fruits in nature.

M - Pleasant, active carbonation, smooth medium body, dry finish, no alcohol presence.

D - Pretty easy to drink and quite enjoyable. A nice wine barrel-aged tripel, but not super 'wild', funky or acidic - just balanced and complex.
