Served in a snifter at ChurchKey.
I do love the random stouts I find at CK. I'm gonna miss them... This one pours a solid onyx topped by a finger of tan foam. The nose leads off with a Rickey Henderson-style jack of sharp, fiery bourbon, with some chocolate, oak, and roasted malts struggling to breathe in the bourbon-y fog. The taste is similarly led by bourbon, though toned down a bit and joined by sour cherries, roasted malts, molasses, and hard, wet oak. The body is a slight medium, with a moderate carbonation and a rather watery feel. Overall, this stout seemed to miss the mark a bit, with its overtly strong bourbon scent (which almost creeps into the taste as well) and strangely thin body. Luckily, it still tastes pretty good.
