CanBIF bottle from maltninja.
A - Pours nearly flat with no head and an amber-ish hue. Bright. No lace, no retention obviously.
S - Lot's of malt. Very sweet sugar and minimal barrel character. Saison yeast/Belgian yeast of some sort is present.
T - Sickly sweet. No balance to this at all. No barrel, no hops, just heaps of sweet honey, candy, sugar.
M - Just attacks the tongue with flatness. Lazy and cloying on the tongue. An unpleasant one to move around the mouth.
O/D - A perfect example of something that does not come as advertised. The bottle brags of intense carbonation, yet there is nil. I picked up no Chardonnay barrel character and this is dominated by honey and sweet malt flavours. Proper in other styles maybe, but definitely not what they claimed to have put into a bottle here.

Way too much residual sugar for a saison, malty sweet and even the wine notes show up as sweet grape notes. Not what I was looking for.

Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light Chardonnay notes with caramelized sugar notes and light oak notes is not bad. Taste is a mix of Chardonnay notes with some nice oak notes with too much caramelized sugar for my taste and some residual sugar notes. Body is about average with great carbonation. The barrel-aging notes are quite good in this beer but I don’t get why so much caramel malt as used. A dryer finish would have been better.

TAste of alcohol quite present but the Chardonnay taste well balances the flavors.

Appearance: It has a nice deep orangy/amber color to it. It has a nice thick light beige head that dies down moderately fast and leaves next to no lacing.
Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of white grapes, pears, oak, some pepper, yeast and a touch of vanilla.
Taste: Very similar to white wine. It has white grapes and pears upfront, some tropical fruit, light pepper, oak, yeast and faint vanilla.
Mouthfeel: It has a low/med carbonation with a very nice overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

Big thank you to Hoppypocket for this!
Appearance. Pours a deep gold with a touch of amber and a little haze. Topped with two fingers of off white head.
Smell. Dank old barrel and chardonay, pears and other light orchard fruits, and fruity yeast phenols.
Taste. Oak barrel and yellow grapes, light pepper and sweet orchard fruits, a touch of dark fruits and coconut, and maybe a little bit of fresh anise.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with medium+ carbonation.
Overall. An interesting beer for sure. Approaching a beer/wine hybrid.

Special thanks to hoppypocket for sending this beer out west.
A: Pours a slightly hazy burnt amber with 1-2 fingers of bone coloured micro-film head with plenty of lacing along the sides of the glass.
S: Upfront scents of wet french oak, white grapes, pears and vanilla together with sweet malts of dark honey, toffee and toasted brioche. Finishes with dry, acrid and minerals notes.
T: Pronounced oakyness of creamy vanilla and toasted brioche followed by grape skins, orange rind, pear and slight hints of minerals and white pepper.
M: Light crisp, and dry with high amounts of mineral notes and effervescence. Has a champagne like feel.
O: This is a extremely unique beer in that it straddles wine and beer profiles. The chardonnay characteristics are very pronounced in all aspects and is a great example of a wine drinkers beer. Oak dominates over any more traditional saison profiles - this is not a Saison Dupont, however if you are a chardonnay fan you will likely enjoy this.
Thanks again to hoppypocket for this.
