330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.9%. Pitch black colour, large tan head. Nice aroma of aquavit spices and Fernet spices, also roast malts, liquorice and oak. The flavour is fairly sweet, with distinct notes of liquorice and said spices. Moderate hops.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark, mahogany brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of creamy, tan-colored, somewhat long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.
S: A decidedly odd aroma of malt, chocolate, wheat, an earthy quality, and some booze.
T: Tasted of a moderate amount of the earthy quality (a subtle force), some chocolate (could've used a bit more), a lot of malt (present throughout), some of the boozy quality (the advertised fernet), and a bit of wheat. Like the aroma, the flavor is kind of odd, probably due to the presence of the fernet. Not bad, but doesn't quite gel.
F: An average amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An uneven beer, but it has some interesting aspects. Worth a look.

A bottle poured into tulip. I have to disagree with previous reviews, I am ultrasensitive disliking booziness and find absolutely none in the smell or taste of this beer, maybe because it has aged a bit more? Insanely good smell, and taste, mostly malts and figs.

2018 vintage; drank 7/22/19 @ the Yarchives.
Black appearance.
A violent pour yielded a big tan head; a thick curtain of lace.
Fresh earth, brandy & black licorice notes in the nose.
Creamy, thick mouthfeel.
Black licorice, fresh earth, brandy & mild booze heat flavors; methinks the aquavit is giving this an abrasive edge?
I LOVE the base beer, Dark Force, but this detracts rather than adds to it. Too bad...

11.2 oz. bottle.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 3/4 tan head over a very, very dark brown body with some lacing. Head recedes rather quickly and comes back with a few swirls. Nose of chocolate, roasted malts, and a bit of the booze from the aquavit and fernet barrels. Taste mirrors nose with roasty flavors of chocolate and boozy flavors of the barrels. Finish has a fernet-like bitterness with caraway, anise, and fennel. Whoa! Very complex and boozier than advertised. Cheers!
