Brown 500ml bottle, best before Sept 2007, drank Feb 2007.
Poured into a pint sleeve a deep red mahogany body with an off white tight foaming head, looked a picture, a real bitter, not one of these new light coloured bitters that are flooding the UK market at the moment.
Aroma of biscuity malts with a hoppy undertone.
Good malty flavour, strong bitter taste, fine example of how a good British bitter should taste like.
For a UK non-bottled-conditioned beer, this is as good as it gets, heavy malts stay, the 5% is evident, but not overpowering.
Very impressed with this beer, interesting stuff on the label too, all about why its got the name and some history about one of Englands most visited stately homes (where the brewery is), Chatsworth House.
