from notes taken on vacation in montreal 5.16.2010.
served in a tulip glass.
color is a deep red with copper/amber highlights. came to the table with a pinky of creamy, off white head that left thick swaths of lace in the glass.
smells of citrus and berry with a slight yeast funk.
taste follows nose with lots of fruit and alternates back and forth between bitter, fruity and biscuity. piney hop character is evident, as is the toffeeish malt backbone. really has a lot going on here.
lighter side of medium bodied with lots of carbonation that feels prickly on the tongue.
delicious and drinkable, but not quite sessionable. certainly the better of the two beers i had at le saint bock. would absolutely order this again if i find myself back in montreal.
