Really awesome special edition right here, the red wine barrels change this one drastically. lots and lots of red fruits in the nose and taste, some dried some fresh, cherry and cranberry come to mind, blackberry too, tannic and woody as well. with the intense chocolate notes of the base beer, this takes on an almost chocolate covered fruits sort of vibe, more sweet than the base beer is on its own, but still with a nice bakers chocolate bitterness too, it is not unbalanced. the acidity of the wine does impact the beer, it seems to thin out some of the silky weighty body, but it doent deteriorate it, just reduces its magnitude a little bit. i am quite pleased with the fruitiness added in, and i dont find the acidity too distracting from what yeti is supposed to be about. nice newer wood profile here, none of the char and carbon black roasted depth you get in the whiskey barrel variants. lighter than those, but perhaps with a little more exposed alcohol. this is a wonderful after dinner drink, especially in the winter, desserty without being too sugary, chocolate covered cherry notes, thick red wine, feels fancy because is is fancy. they should bottle this one, i am sure it would cellar with the best of them...
