a really rad yeti variant and the first twist on this one i have seen in a long time, i feel like they used to be a lot more prevalent. this is on tap at ale house, and is aged some time in breckenridge whiskey barrels. its as thick and dark and leggy as any of the yeti beers, with a frothing mocha head and a lot of viscosity to it, not too shiny, patient and well refined looking. the adjuncts are awesome in both aroma and flavor, obvious but not overdone, which was the risk here as with any huge mexican style stout like this. the chili adds some light smoke which i think is awesome with the chocolatey and roasty malt base of yeti already, but they dont add much heat if any thankfully. the vanilla adds a little sweetness and calls up the whiskey, while the cinnamon is the most obvious, so nice with the chocolate character in here and balanced by some roasted bitterness in the grain as well. desserty but not diabetic, and i could gladly drink a whole one of these. it lingers long with dark baking chocolate and the spices, so cohesive and mature, some charred oak smoothness at the end too and just enough alcohol burn to remind me to slow down. really special flavor complexion here, more subtle on these ingredients than many, retaining the full and complete character of the classic yeti here, a brilliant choice. a great variant of a legendary beer, they should bottle this one...
