I had this on tap at their tasting room. It was the first time that I was in there on a Rockies game day and the place was packed. I'll remember to avoid that time in the future.
This is an enjoyable Belgian Strong Dark Ale aged in Syrah barrels.
Appearance: It has a dark cherry color, dark, however, more transparent than opaque. Very little head and lacing quickly dissipates.
Smell: I felt that the drinking conditions didn't afford a good environment to catch the aroma. As I said, the place was very crowded. Therefore, although I experienced the smell as very slight and not adding much to the beer that may be different under different drinking conditions.
Taste: It tasted of dark fruits like fig and grapes. It is also dry with vanilla notes. It has a slight boozy front that is hidden later.
Overall: Very drinkable, not heavy and no overpowering strong flavors.

Wow..its not often to add a beer to a place like this...especially being iver 2000mi from home. This is the regular grand cru aged in syrah barrels. Super limited as stated by the brewery. ..really glad I'm in town for this
Poured from tap at the brewery. Nice deep ruby color...pretty much amazing. White lacing remains after the foamy head. Sweet raison and wine like aroma jumps out and figgy chocolate notes aren't as obvious. Taste is sweet dried fruit and lots of wine character. Sone hints of chocolate and a bit of toffee or just residual sweetness. The dry wine character shows.
Man I really hope their barrel program takes off...I'm patiently waiting in ny for it to show up on our shelves.
Go have this now before its gone.
