Poured from 32oz crowler into a tulip.

Appearance: rich black hue with two fingers of creamy dark-tan foam atop. Totally black with no light let through -- stout indeed!

Smell: quite sweet with a little chocolate in the undernote and a little bit of vanilla. Quite nice.

Taste: oh wow. Beautiful flavors of rich dark fruit, plums, tobacco, raisins, all the great hits. Chocolate and toffee and vanilla are present, but not overpowering. This beer is pretty sweet, but well-balanced by all the flavors. I really, really dig it.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess. It is good, but I feel like this beer should have some more viscosity to it.

Overall: I'm loving this beer. It's got a great depth and complexity, and though it's a pastry stout, it's not overdone. Great.

Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger head that dissipates to a thin cap with light lacing. Aroma of mild dark toasted malt, raspberries, light cocoa; a bit muted. Flavor is semi-sweet dark toasted malt, raspberries, light cherry and cocoa, lactose and a little coffee in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A nice, well balanced raspberry stout. The cherry was less distinctive, but add to the well integrated fruit flavors. I'm not a fan of tart flavors in my stouts and berry additives are always marginal for me, but they are well handled here giving authentic berry flavor with just a tad of tartness, well supported by the mild sweetness of the milk stout base. ABV dangerously covered, a sipper. Nicely done and glad to find it in a crowler. Getting some interesting beers via crowlers now, a small bright spot in an otherwise rather grim beer scene.
