Barrel stock of this blend was constructed from a Speke forward Barleywine that was aged for 24 months in four roses barrels and rye forward Barleywine aged for 15 months in templeton rye barrels. This beer is insanely smooth with heavy notes of caramel covered raisins , sweet dark cherries, vanilla and umami flavors with mild, warm barrel heat.

I'm in on speltwine! Opaque brown body with a tan cap. Smell is super caramel and date forward, bourbon, molasses, spelt, barley, with vanillin full oak in the background. Taste adds raisin and leather, and is slightly more boozy on the backend as it warms, complex and delicious. Lush feel with a shallower floor, smooth and warm. Impressive work

My first speltwine. I've had ryewine, oatwine, barleywine, wheatwine, and maybe another?

Anyway, this is deeply delicious. So much boozy fruit that tasted blind I'd have guessed a non-brown liquor barrel was at work here. Raisins, dates, plums. I also get rich molasses and caramel dripping over that fruit. There are also hints of pepper and just a trace of perfectly incorporated soy. This is just tremendous.

Poured highly viscous, murky brown with absolutely no head or carbonation. Heavy bourbon and dark fruits at the nose. Tasted bourbon, dates, chocolates, with subtle heat. Very rich and sweet.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a murky and opaque dark brown. Almost no head. The nose is toffee, red wine, rye, molasses, figs, prunes, and a bit of booze. Dang this is nice. A good amount of dark fruit. Very malty.

The taste is so rich and complex. Wow. The rye is noticeable right away, and I like rye. Wine, figs, dates, prunes, toffee, chocolate, molasses, bread. So good. Tons of barrel. The ABV is not undetectable, but it is drinking quite easily! There is a slight spicy note on the aftertaste. Really interesting.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and overall quite sweet. This is such a great barleywine. I'm glad I have another!

Caramel color with a minimal white head. Aroma is a very pleasant slightly sweet caramel. Taste is also a slightly sweet caramel barleywine. Feel is great.

This one pours a fairly dark brown color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like sticky caramel, rye, vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit, toffee, brown sugar, and oak.

This is absolutely exceptional, and probably the best beer that I've had yet from Skookum. That oaky and spicy rye bitterness from the barrel carries a lot here, and helps bring a nice balance against sticky sweet boozy malt character here - brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, caramel, etc. There's also vanilla and sweet bourbon from the barrel.

This is medium bodied, with very little booziness, and a really solid drinkability for the style.

This is nearly as good as it gets for barleywine. It's hard to find many flaws here.
