Served in straight pint glass. Poured a deep reddish-mahogany color with just a thin cap of sandy tan head that had OK retention and lacing.

The aroma was malty and a bit on the sweet side, with just hints of peat and hops. On the tongue however, a bold peaty flavor hit right upfront and carried over the whole tongue. There was some grainy malt and just a light touch of hops. The beer was a bit sweet.

The body was solid and smooth, even and well balanced. Drinkability was pretty good, depending on how well you like that smoky peat taste. Overall, a decent example of one of my least favorite styles. Worth trying when you see it around the Sound.
