...is our spring seasonal. It is a stronger version of our Hefeweizen. The golden color of this beer indicates a full-bodied beer with a velvety smooth taste which accentuates its malty character. This delicate flavor is in harmony with the fruity, estery, banana-clove flavor one expects from Weizenbeers fermented with an original Bavarian yeast strain. Imported aroma hops provide a delicate, subdued balance to the natural sweetness of the malts.

On tap at Jake's in Steilacoom the other day.

The beer pours a hazy, golden amber color with fair head retention and lacing. On the nose, I get a boatload of spice, including clove (quite a lot of clove), banana, bubble gum and a touch of nutmeg. As good as this beer smells, it's even better on the palate. The moderate sweetness is countered nicely by the spice, and I found drinkability to be exceptional. It's not just that the alcohol seems to be well disguised, but this beer is so delicious I just wanted to drink more and more of it. Frankly, after drinking this, I was a bit sorry that I decided to go with a change of pace, and order a stout after this beer. Very impressive.

Served on draught at the brewery.

The style of weizen bock or dunkel bock lends itself to tremendously ornate expressions. The beer can be as complex as a symphony and as powerful as a lunar eclipse. And Alpine’s version is as triumphant as any you’ll find anywhere. It begins with an explosive bouquet of spice island medley: nutmeg, clove, allspice and ginger. The scent is a scintillating array of flavors that carries over to the taste. Everything is energetic and dazzling. It’s like they taught wheat to dance.

Lively carbonation infuses a body of stormy ochre. A modest peppery bite gives the beer legs while carefree lace forms to the glass. This is a beer of zest and imagination. It is abundantly flavorful and an effortless joy to consume. Strongly recommended.

This one was on tap at the Elk Public House. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a bright burnt yellow/gold color and is cloudy. Small head is gone almost instantly, leaving a beverage resembling pineapple juice.

The smell is strong and spicey. There is a clove aroma, and some fruit scents.

The taste is sweet, a nice banana and clove traditional hefeweizen flavor. There is a sharpness to the taste I can't quite describe. A bit of a fall pumpkin spice flavor.

Mouth feel is zesty and well carbonated, but a little cloying on the finish.

The beer is drinkable but the flavor is a little rich to make it sessionable. I had three. The flavor is so robust nothing would be much good afterward I'm afraid. A marzen style ale according to the sales receipt. Very good.

Had this on-tap at The Elk in Spokane. The waitress I spoke to (who bore an uncanny resemblance to Reese Witherspoon) had no idea what the abv was in this, or whether it was a one-off or a regular offering from Alpine.

Ok, so my only experience with this style is Aventinus, so I'm patently un-expert with this kind of beer, but is it normal for a weizenbock to be a cloudy yet bright yellow? Creamy-looking white head that dropped after a couple of minutes, leaving a modest amount of lace.

Slightly spicy, clove scent, along with a restrained, earthy grain smell. Strangely devoid of character, however.

Fairly similar to the smell, though there was an undercurrent of vanilla to the proceedings, as well. Still not terribly memorable.

Somewhat creamy mouthfeel, seemed almost like it was on nitro, but it wasn't.

While not an unpleasant beer, definitely a perplexing one. Would really like to talk to the brewer about this and see where he was trying to go with this.
