Evidently unretired. On cask at 'spoons in Glasgow. A dark amber colour with a sweet almost carroty wort nose reminding me of almost every Strathaven beer. Sweet with good spicy hops. Becomes more bitter the more I drink. A well balanced ale.

This deep amber clear ale left some beautiful lacing that added so much to the ambience. It was in solid sheets and in turn one could look at the intricasies of the patterns which were snowflake like in spots. Maybe it's just me but I love lace on the glass. Godd hoppy aroma with a long yet very smooth finish of sweet malt and fruity hops. I really enjoyed this seasonal ale that was offered by my favorite JDW pub the Lord Moon of The Mall.

Tasted by a pint at a local Wetherspoon pub, The Capitol, in Forest Hill, SE London. This beer is one of the JDW chain's 12 X'mas guest ales. Served by a handpump w/o a sparkler.

A: copper hue, translucent, ever-lasting off-white pillowy froth, leaving fine tight lacing behind; low carbonation.
S: citric fruity and mildly spicy hops (reminiscent of Goldings or its relatives), backed by a layer of sour-sweet amber malts. Soothing, not imposing, but in need of more characters.
T: delicious hops and dark fruits come together, fast ensued by top-quality biscuity+toffeeish maltiness and its pronounced aroma, while a tinge of bitter-nutty taste develops with growing dried-leafy tea-ish bitterness as a balancer at the back. The superbly lingering nutty aroma of malts is featured in the long finish.
M&D: refreshing on the texture, medium-bodied, although there's nothing X'mas-ish in the glass. This is a quaffable autumny Best Bitter with lengthy bitterness to offer.
