22 oz. bottle -

Pours dark brown. A creamy light tan head settles to a fluffy lasting cover. Creamy lacing sticks.

The smell is of dark caramel/toffee (towards chocolate?) with pine and a general dark fruity/ herbal spicing. Pleasant.

The taste is of dark malt (toffee). Sweet-ish but not too sweet. Slight tobacco and bitter pine balance it.

Could be fuller for a "winter", but holds up to reach medium (similar to some English winter ales).

A winter brew with a Pacific NW hop touch. A dark amber ale that is malt-forward but not too sweet. A nice brew that has a "winter" character without the added spices. Nice!

Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip.

Appearance: deep amber-brown hue with rich highlights. Body is haze-free with a light effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy ivory foam; overall look is quite good.

Smell: sweetly malty with a rich abundance of dank, funky hops. There's a biscuity breadiness to the malt, but the hops create a dank, wintry feeling that I like.

Taste: caramelly, bready, biscuity, dank, funky and spicy; everything you'd think of when you think of a well-hopped amber ale suitable for a winter warmer. Not always my favorite style, but I kind of dig it!

Mouthfeel: medium body with a well-integrated carbonation and a nice creaminess. Kudos!

Overall: tasty enough and drinkable. I'm not always a fan of this style of biscuity, funky brew, but in this context the balance is working for me.
