Poured a light orange-copper with excellent clarity into a pint glass with around a finger of loose off-white head. Very mild aroma with just a bit of caramel, hoppy pine, and a bit of grass.

From the cask, the carbonation was very low and the mouthfeel was ultra-smooth and creamy. Body felt a little thin, but the flavors were a solid mix of slightly nutty toffee malt and a very pleasant hint of grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Light and easy-drinking.

On tap at the Mukilteo brewpub.

If you're looking for a hard-hitting major league ESB and not some candy populace swill from the Hook down the road, this stuff rivals the ESB favorites I had on tap in London a few years ago. Dark caramel, some ongoing off-white rimming, a strong nose of florals, bitters and toasted malts. Up-front bitters from the first sip, with complex malts. Very nice, and a nice residual bitters.

Had this beer on-tap in a pint pot in the DK alehouse in Mukilteo. It is now 6.1% ABV according to the tap list.

Appearance: rich amber hue with a bit of haze to the body. Head is a super-thin layer of ivory foam.

Smell: mild aroma of caramel malts with a fair bit of sweetness. not bad, but a bit mild.

Taste: moderately sweet caramel malt flavor with a pretty solid bitterness. Very earthy and tasty; a good bitter.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decently good carbonation and concomitant creaminess.

Overall: a very enjoyable ESB. I wished they bottled this one; I bet it would do well.

Served in mug at the brewery. Poured a lovely light coppery-brown with just more than inch of deep off-white head that had moderate retention and minimal lacing.

The aromas were a nice mix of sweet malt and spicy hop. The slightly nutty malt flavors hit the tongue and meld into the gently tart finish.

A nicely full body is not heavy and coats the tongue well without leaving annoying aftertastes. This is very close to being the ultimately drinkable session brew. I don't get down to Mukilteo often enough, and when I do I rarely drink 2 of the same beers in a row, but I had 3 of these on my most recent visit and was very pleased. Highly recommended.

A clear bronze ale with a big frolicking mouthfeel showing modest suds in the traditional sense. Its immediate sweetness is followed by full bittering and some yeasted jazz. Though not overly assertive in any dimension DK's ESB maintains a strongly defined identity nonetheless.

This beer looked like an exceptional bitter... perfect amber color, great off-white head and excellent lacing. The smell was of high quality pale malt, including some honey, nutty characteristics and a light floral aroma. The taste was more of the same, with a lot of sweet malt coming through to balance the bitterness. It felt great on the palate and was easily drinkable. I would make it a staple if I was going to live in the area.
