I had this beer on-tap in a dimpled mug at the Diamond Knot Mountlake Terrace brewpub.
Appearance: black hue with a thin layer of dark tan foam atop. Stouty!
Smell: malty, a little caramelly, a little roasty. It’s light and it's simple, but I dig it.
Taste: caramelly, slightly sweet malt with a roasty astringency and a light fruitiness. I’ve had this beer many times over the years, and its interesting combo of stoutiness and fruitiness always gets me.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: I have always liked this beer, and find it super quaffable. Honestly surprised I never reviewed it before!

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin brown head that dissipates to a persistent thin film with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, mild coffee and cocoa and a suggestion of dark fruit. Flavor is dark toasted malt, cocoa, mild coffee and dark fruit, with some gentle char developing in the finish. Medium bodied with light carbonation. A laid back stout that has moderate, but nicely balanced malt, chocolate, coffee and fruit notes. I'm not quite getting the rum notes, but there is some mild fruit character. A bit on the thin side for body, but nicely flavored.

From a can to a nonic pint glass. Canned on 1/14/2019.
Pours a clear very dark with a one finger khaki head that dissipates quickly with nice lacing.
Aroma is not strong unfortunately. I get a cola smell and sweet, dark fruit with some roasted grain. It’s nice but faint for some reason.
Taste is high in roasted grain with moderate chocolate, cola, and dark fruits like raisin, plum, and prune. It has a nice sweet, fruity finish. Mild alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium body, smooth, and moderate carbonation.
Overall, this is a very drinkable and enjoyable stout. I like it more and more as I get to the bottom of the glass. This is a Tropical stout style, so should be graded and understood as such. Sweet, fruity, and roasty. I would have rated it higher if the aroma matched the flavor intensity.
