A: Poured with a very small, white head. Body is yellow and hazy. Kind of bland looking, really.
S: Completely average aroma of cooked corn and a very small amount of breadiness.
T: Some slight traces of cooked corn in the taste, and a slghtly dry finish. Slight seems to be the key word for this beer. Slight, and bland.
M: Light bodied with an almost oily-like texture, and average carbonation.
D: Easy to drink, but she ain't nothing special. I'd take a pass, actually... the Diamond Knot Brown is a better option from this brewery.

I believe this is the correct beer. Purchased in July 2009, the label is simply "Diamond Knot Blonde Ale". ABV according to the bottle is 4.2%. 22oz bomber poured into a pint glass.
Appearance: straw-colored with almost no head, but nice lacing as I drink it.
Smell: a sweet aroma, but not particularly complex.
Taste: quite malty for this style, but not overdone. Bitter enough, but very little hop flavor.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body. A nice amount of carbonation.
Drinkability: maybe it's the weather on this 90 degree evening, but this beer is very refreshing. It's not a total lightweight, but it's light enough to slake my thirst for the next few rounds.

In the interests of being thorough, I try blonde ales as often as I encounter them. Sometimes I'm surprised by a clean, drinkable beer. But most often they leave me cold. This Summer Blonde falls into the latter category as a beer that falls outside my capacity for appreciation. It starts out well enough served with white lather and aggressive lace in a hearty dimpled mug. The body is unusually pale yellow and unfiltered.
But this blonde has a surprisingly strong flavor and can't pass for clean. It begins with dry lines suggesting a possible use of wheat. It then devolves into an assertive yeasted tang that carries towards the finish and lays heavy on the tongue. It's also overly bitter in my opinion.
Summer Blonde is perhaps functional given its aspirations, and presumably some people enjoy beers of this sort. But I didn't much care for it.
