I had this beer on-tap in a dimpled mug at the Diamond Knot brewery in Mountlake Terrace.
Appearance: rich dark brown hue with a finger of tan foam atop. Looks perfectly cromulent!
Smell: sweet, caramelly, and bready. Decent enough, although I feel more of a brown ale vibe than porter in my estimation, as I'm not getting much in the way of roastiness.
Taste: rather sweet with a nutty, caramelly character. There's perhaps just a hint of smokiness; not as forward as I think of in a "smoked beer". Like the aroma, it lacks much roastiness. It's tasty, but perhaps not very porter-like.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess. Not too bad.
Overall: this is a good beer, and I've no doubt it will have its audience, but I like a little more roastiness and a little less sweetness from my porters (imperial though they may be).
