330ml bottle from Netto, Berlin (€0.69):
Quite a boozy & strong offering with a lot of sweetness throughout, it's probably not the best beer to kick off the night with but it was drinkable & enjoyable at times without ever threatening to be a classic. There was a lot of dark malts & fruits coming through, most notably plums & dates but nothing out of the ordinary for the style really. It's one that's worth trying if you stumble across it, mainly because it's not as bad as you'd expect from the price but it was probably just marginally better than average & not one I'd be likely to pick up again.

330ml bottle, poured into Stone snifter.
A: Very dark bronzy colour, a thick looking, small tanned head which disappeared quickly, didn’t leave much lacing.
S: Roasted coffee beans, malt.
T: Roasted coffee beans, malt, dark chocolate. Hid the booze well.
M: Not much carbonation, smooth, fairly light texture for the style.
O: A decent Doppelbock, fairly subtle and not too boozy.
