On holiday in ohrid macedonia looking for a drinkable beer; Better than their national competitor Skopska but also lack of taste, less fake aftertaste

Notes in Skopje from February 2016:
"Zlaten Dab Dark Beer." This was just released in October or November 2015. I picked up a 33cl bottle at a Vero hypermarket for 53 denars (plus a 5 denar deposit). Has a classy screen-print label, brown glass, and a branded pull-tab cap.
5.20% ABV. Best by date: 27/04/16.
Served chilled into a nonical pint glass. Expectations are somewhat high; ostensibly this is the *best* beer brewed in Macedonia. But on the other hand...this is the best beer brewed in *Macedonia*. Reviewed as a dark lager; the label and website only offer the descriptor "dark beer."
HEAD: ~8cm wide. Khaki colour. Creamy and frothy, with a good overall consistency and a nice complexion. Retention is quite nice - ~6-7 minutes. Some lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head recedes.
BODY: Deep ruby. Nontransparent; semitranslucent. I see no yeast within.
Appears well-carbonated. It's a nice look for a dark lager, and I'm looking forward to trying it - though it offers no unique or special characteristics.
AROMA: Amber malts, bready malts, cream, a kiss of sourdough, caramel, and brown bread. Aromatic intensity is average.
I find no off-notes, no hop profile, and no overt yeast profile...which is to say I suspect cleanly attenuating lager yeast.
TASTE: Follows the aroma, with a bit more of an amber malt emphasis than anticipated...and even some fruitiness. I'd say it's a minor note of cherry, and it seems surprisingly genuine; I'd expect artificial cherry flavouring/grenadine in a Macedonian beer, but this is quite nice. It's got a nice balanced sweetness to it from amber malts and bready dunkel malts, and though the beer is simple its constituent components are very well balanced and I'm pleasantly surprised by the (moderate) depth of flavour. Well put together, with a nicely cohesive flavour profile. Though it's simple, the beer does offer rare subtlety and nuance given its country of origin - in which intricacy isn't really the norm in beer. The cherry in particular is fantastic, and feels naturally integrated into the build.
I'm rather liking this.
TEXTURE: Aptly medium-bodied, with a clean presentation of flavours bolstered by a straightforward smooth and wet feel on the palate. Well-carbonated, though not perfectly dialed in. Mild thickness lends this lager a bit more heft on the palate than you'd find in most.
This mouthfeel is a good companion to the taste, emphasizing the cherry without delving into sticky territory. Maybe it doesn't elevate the beer as a whole, and there isn't a perfect harmony of texture and taste - but it's well-executed.
OVERALL: Those skeptical of Macedonian beers will be pleasantly surprised by this treat of a dunkel lager. The hint of cherry and surprisingly well executed mouthfeel will please discerning drinkers, and at just under a euro a bottle it's a beer I can definitely see myself returning to. Absolutely a must-try if in Macedonia, and though this is only my second beer in the country, I think it's fair (given the sparseness of beer in general) to affirm this as the best brew it has to offer. I hope Prilepska Pivarnica gets more notice internationally so that they can continue to push Macedonia's beer culture higher and higher.
