BA says this beer is retired but I just had it at sunset grill and tap in allston ,MA and frankly it was one of the best Imperial pils that I have had. Had all the drinkable character of a pils and none of the harshness from too much alcohol . Nice soft breaddy malt that was not terribly rich but rather soft. A good herbal and some wonderful hop character. I do not know what kind of hops it used but there was a nice little fruitiness, some grassiness that did not seem IPA like and this drank well. I liked it a lot.

On tap at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.
Pours a hazy dark orange, almost amber, with a soapy one inch head, and a little bit of lacing.
Smells slightly catty, with grassy hop aromas, peach, and mango.
The taste is similar. This is a pretty swell Imperial Pilsner, the use of Nelson hops is nice. Some grapefruit, passionfruit, mango, and grape flavors, a bit of grapefruit, some cattiness, lemon, and crackery pilsner malt.
Light to medium bodied, a lot lighter than I would've expected, given the ABV. Crisp, mostly clean mouthfeel (there's a bit of slight catty dirtiness, but it doesn't detract), and a medium level of carbonation.
I believe this is my first beer from New Zealand, and it was really solid.

Appearance- I received about one and a half fingers of head on my twelve ounce pour. The head is pure white while the body is a hazy mix between golden straw and warm lemon which appears as a weak lemon when held up to the light. Good amount of lacing that involves quite a bit of sheeting.
Nose- A bit subdued at the moment. It's mostly citrus (orange and lemon) Swirling reveals some mustiness and grapefruit. By this time, the other citrus notes have faded and this is all that is left. A hint of something akin to green peach as well.
Taste- Definitely not as good as other imperial pilsners I've had. Definite grapefruit, and lemon. Grapefruit is the most dominant citrus aspect. Some orange and lemon peel. A bit of mustiness that pairs with pine and resin notes that initially seem dull. A little bit of a dry finish but not enough in my opinion. There's a good enough complexity but it isn't balanced by enough integration The piquant presence of woodiness and resin seem too much for this style. These “off-flavors” do mellow out a bit. Above average but nothing special.
Mouthfeel- Light bodied with a little bit of syrup and an appropriate amount of carbonation.
Drinkability- Pretty easygoing despite the messy flavor profile. A little pricey at 5 bucks for a 12 oz pour.
Overall- Above average but not by much. Wouldn't recommend for someone looking for a representative of the style. As another beer to tick, maybe.
