500ml bottle poured into a snifter.
Jet black in color, it tops with a centimeter of foamy tan head that quickly dissipates to some bubble sheet on the surface and leaving some lacing patch and spot on the glass-side, pretty good showcase for a big Stout.
The aroma is solid with lots of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Also some caramel, burnt bread, biscuit, dough, charred nut, sugar, and fudge, all from malt. There is a note of aromatic sherry, also hint of brandy and sweet fruit participating adding some depth together with some earthy hop.
The taste is big and bold with roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, some caramel, burnt bread, biscuit, dough, charred nut, sugar, fudge, sherry, hint of brandy, sweet fruit, some earthy hop as well as upright bitterness that is mostly from roasted malt.
Medium body with smooth mouthfeel and low to moderate carbonation, the feeling well-rounded and just right to carry all the things well while the finish is pleasantly dry.
Good Stout indeed with some complexity by the combination of Stout goodness and fruity character as well as good malt bill, alcohol is concealed at first but mildly yet pleasantly displayed once it started to warm. For me it is like Stout plus with Old Ale.

Pitch black with some rusty bubbles on the inside of the glass, topped with 2, well sustained fingers of rusty, chocolate milk head.
Smells of chocolate, tar, pipe tobacco, a hint of smokiness, and a little alcohol.
Tastes of chocolate, tar, black liquorice, tobacco, toasted maltiness, and finishes with a little burnt bitterness.
Medium body, moderate carbonation.
Got in Chiang Mai, drinking it here January 3rd, 2017. Well rounded, a little light on the body for the style, a little lacking in pizazz. Still, its a solid brew.

Very intense chocolate and roasted malts smell. Dates and brown sugars. Tastes sweeter with a medicinal component and a roasted character. Thick mouthfeel. Very nice beer.

From a large bottle of "Vintage Ale" in Edinburgh.
Very dark brown with red-orange edges. Excellent tan head.
Exceptionally rich aroma and fairly rich and complex flavor. Some heat on the tongue and a bit boozy in the nose. Very full bodied.
About even sweet/bitter balance.
