A step up from the Autumn Amber and Summer Blonde, definitely. Some floral notes in the nose, but besides that, not much else to report. Sweet, really light malts. Lying under the crappy Tasmanian hops and general lightness of this beer, is a half decent German lager, sadly the end result of this beer is that it tastes closer to their regular Premium Lager than anything else.

finally found this beer at the bottle shop. being a seasonal beer i expected it to be a bit more expensive, i wasnt disappointed.
crystal clear golden color. nice hop aroma to it. you definitely notice it first up, but nothing exceptional.
nice clean taste. i may be reaching here but the flavor seemed well balanced between malt and hops. also slight bitterness to finish it off. mouthfeel was good, not too thin.
overall i thought this was a decent lager. i am curious to try their premium to compare the two.

how unsual! cascade have managed to embarrass themselves once again! they could have really done better with this beer, but havent got anywhere near the required standard. geelongs schonbrauhaus does bavarian lager plenty better.
does have a nice rich golden color and fresh, light head. it looked preety good when i poured it. the nose was fanastic i have to admit. it was like smelling the first buds of spring blooming, with hints of freshly mown grass and hay. i thought cascade had redeemed themselves right there. but id got my hopes up for nothing. behind it all was the taste of carlton draught. there wasnt the malty, straw like flavors of bavarian lager, just that crappy taste of adjuncts and horrible raspy bitterness found in all CUB beers.
the finish was so much of a letdown considering the beginning. it left a nasty aftertaste that hung around far too long for my liking. ive said before they have truly managed to take supposedly the best ingredients, especially in the hops department, and make a dismal beer.
considering what you pay for this, its just terrible. at best, this should be what a crown lager should be. if im forced to drink swill while iim watching sport, id put up with this. but not as a so called boutique beer. i had a stein of DAB after this one. that said it all. one of the lower rung german lagers was still better than this by at least a point. not a good sign. but as they do, most other aussies will rave about it like its the best lager to come out here in ages.
