Brygget specielt for Coop.
Coop is turning 150 this year and is celebrating by relaunching a number of classics in upgraded versions. The first is POKAL beer, which back in the 1980s was the third best-selling beer in Denmark, probably mostly because it was really cheap.
The new POKAL beer is currently available in four varieties (Pilsner, Classic, Red Lager and Dark Lager).

Copenhagen 9/8 2016. 50 cl bottle from Fakta, Frederiksborgvej, Kbh. NV. Beer made to celebrate the Supermarket Chain Coop’s 150 years anniversary.
Pours hazy dark brown with an off-white yellowish head. Stable. Settles as a thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is of sweet caramel with hints of raisins and dark dried fruit and brown sugar. Toffee galore.
Medium strong carbonation and slightly thick palate. Lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is only lightly sweet followed shortly by a pronounced bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and a little harsh.
A bit rough and bitter - but not bad.
